Day 16 - Vancouver Part One
Luckily my Aunt Wendy gave a yummy breakfast recommendation at this old time diner in Vancouver. It had jukeboxes at every table!
I ordered a yummy vegan tofu scramble with lots of veggies and side salad! Jonah got scrambled eggs with bacon and Brie in a croissant. Very filling and yummy!
Next we decided to walk around the area and check out some local shops! We stumbled across a essential oil store with diffusers and various body products! We bought lotion there that was on sale.
Our next stop was my favorite store… Lush! I have a hard time walking buy without going in… I bought 3 small things! A shampoo bar, a body wash and coffee face mask.
The next main stop was at Stanley Park. It was a bit cloudy and cold, but that didn’t stop us from having fun!
Then we shared a Japanese hot dog!
Earlier we saw a sign that the Vancouver art museum had a Monet exhibit and it was pay by donation after 5. I really wanted to go there so we made sure to be in the area a good hour and a half before it opened.
I thought the lady at the museum was lying when she said to get there at 3:30 because there would be a line around the block but she wasn’t. We got a drink across the street and an appetizer while I kept an eye on the line. I ran out at one point to make sure I got on before it got too long.
Jonah and I both really enjoyed the exhibit and the main lesson we learned was that his focus was more about capturing the light and essence rather than all the details. His work was so controversial at the time yet now he is viewed as one of the most important painters in history today. It made us realize that it is important to focus on what you feel is right, regardless if it is the “popular” way of doing something.
As I did research on places to eat, I found a vegan pizza place a mile away and it was super worth it. They only have two locations… one in Vancouver and one it Portland. We will have to try the other location as well.
Our last stop of the night was at a sports bar where we got a couple drinks then called it quits.
By the time we got back it was 1am which is super late for us nowadays. 😉😴
