Day 23 - I Lava You
Today we had an early start because there was a lot we wanted to do!
No breakfast for us today… went right to lunch at a cute organic restaurant outside Bend, Oregon.
Our next stop was at Lava River Cave which was a cave created from lava that melted the rock years ago. It was really cool to learn about the “Sand Garden” which was located below the entrance. The floor was covered in sand which was carried into the cave by dripping water. That sand is volcanic ash which remains from Mount Manama happening 6,600 years ago! This was the first cave I have ever been in and it makes me excited to see more. This trip keeps amazing me with the power of nature!
