Day 7 - Our Private Rocky Beach

Today we woke up to crisp air with a strong scent of pines. I knew there weren’t people around, but the squirrels kept thumping, knocking and and running around I was convinced it was people. I heard the strangest sound making screeching sounds and we later realized they were elk. I had never heard anything quite like it.

Jonah sneaked out of the tent, set up our hammock, made me coffee and some oatmeal. We had a nice and lazy morning which was exactly what we needed.

A few hours later we drove to our next destination in Bighorn, and found a secluded spot on the lake. Nobody else was there and it was very peaceful. The drive over was pretty rocky and at one point it was hard to tell if we were still on a road or not.

We checked out the scenery and later went for a dip in the water. It was so hot outside we couldn’t resist.

We made an early dinner and got in the car before sundown because lakes usually come with lots of mosquitos.
