Day 24 - Breakfast in Bend
Every good day starts with some Breakfast in Bend! I found a cute place called Chow to chow down some delicious food.
Jonah and I wanted to see the town so we explored the town and shops. We stopped in Aveda and REI (to get a new camp pad) and discovered a nice little river flowing next to town. There we realized that the town started around two lumber mills. The Old Mill District has been revitalized into a sporty neighborhood.
Crater Lake was our next stop and it was as beautiful in person as in the pictures we saw. I was fascinated to learn how deep it is 1,950 feet deep. This lake is formed by a collapsed volcano around 7,700 years ago. The lake is also the deepest in the U.S. and it has no streams flowing in or out of the lake which means the only water that fills it is from precipitation giving it clarity and a super blue color.
We drove to Ashland to stay with family friends and had a yummy homemade dinner with most of the ingredients coming from their farm.
