Day 30 - Never Felt So Small

Day 30 - Never Felt So Small

My mind was blown today, I have never felt so small! The Redwood trees are some of the tallest trees known in existence getting up to around 2,000 years old.. how insane is that? We learned that they are pretty fire resistant, they have chemical defenses such as tannins which protect against diseases and it takes centuries to decompose. It is pretty crazy to fathom how these trees have survived so long and grew so so tall. Sadly we also found out that since the mid 1800s, 95% of trees in the redwoods have been logged.

We first saw an enormous hollowed out tree that I walked into to get some pics. You could almost live in it! (Maybe not quite) We got some self timer pictures so you can see just how massive some of the tree are.

We did many shorter paths to see different sites including one to see “Big Tree” which isn’t actually the biggest tree there is to see, but just big!

It was really cool to see some fallen trees that had new trees growing out of them! My neck started hurting from looking up so much, but it was worth it.

We saw one tree with peeling bark with hints of brown and orange and the sunlight just hit it in such a pretty way.

Another famous tree we came across is called the Corkscrew tree which was all twisty and turny.

Afterwards, we walked through these beautiful fern draped trees it almost looked fake!

We found yet another hallowed out tree that we climbed into and took some shots! SO many spectacular sights we saw today!
